The Furniture Doctors was created by two ambitious men named David Lorenzini and David Frost. The idea to create The Furniture Doctors came about over cappuccino in our kitchen with another roommate. We felt why work for someone else when we felt we could do a better job at taking care of the end consumer then the existing companies. We were and still are consumers and felt that we are the last to be considered when it comes to service, especially furniture service.
The beginning was slow and steady. Our office was in our basement of our home with one computer and a printer this was January 1990. The small stores and direct customers grew with persistence of sales and word of mouth from satisfied customers. A break came our way when we started doing rush complaints for Sterns Department stores because it does not take long for a customer service department to see the difference between a good service oriented company and one that is not. The work started to come in and so, did the growth.
The Furniture Doctors had grown by 1998 to the point where we had 20 employees and an office/warehouse in Hackensack N.J. and we were doing service for all most all of the large department stores. The next big change for us was technology, The computers we were using were getting old, websites were starting to become common place even for small business’s. The internet was going to be the way to do business going forward. We wanted to make sure we did not disappoint our customer base. The changes were good for everyone involved even though we had to learn a lot about something other than furniture.
The last few years have been a test of perseverance. The times have been tough for most and we have all had to make hard decisions. The Furniture Doctors has had to make hard decisions as well but, we still feel like we did in the beginning that YOU our customers come first and foremost. The Furniture Doctors will work with our customers as much as possible to get the job done as fast and the most cost effective way possible for all of us.
The Furniture Doctors has just completed a complete over haul of our website (Furnituredoctors.com) and our scheduling system to speed service to our end consumer. We have added a web store to better assist our consumers to get better products at outstanding prices. The best part of growing and changing in these times are all the great customers we get to continually meet and help. The website also has a contact us page for our customer to send us ideas on how to continual improve our service.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about how The Furniture Doctors became who we are today.
